Leaky Supply Duct Induced Ventilation

When the supply ducts in the attic leak, huge amount of conditioned air is blown out of the roof vents. This results in excessive energy costs.

When the conditioned air is blown out of the house, outside air is sucked in to replace it. Over ventilation means dry, uncomfortable conditions when heating and ineffective cooling and dehumidification in summer.

Warm, moist air forced into the attic heats the roof and causes condensation and ice.

Some holes in the supply ducts are from poor workmanship. But often registers are purposefully cut into the supply to heat the basement. All holes in the supply ducts that are isolated from the return registers cause trouble.
